DRESSING UP – DRESSED DOWN HOLIDAY PARTY IDEAS
Holiday parties are a great way to bridge connections as everyone loosens their tie and fills a glass for conversations with colleagues & clients you otherwise might not have. Who knows, the love / deal of your life could be ignited… are you dressed for such a moment?
I like to look at these events as either dressing down business attire somewhat… or dressing it up (depending on your line of work, of course). That said, here are some thought-starters:
TIE ONE ON!
If you’re an entrepreneur / in the creative sector, a tie is a nice curve ball to add to your arsenal. However, not in the traditional suit sense… use some of that creativity!
A cardigan & denim shirt are hipster AF (probably nothing out of the norm for you).
Add a tie with some texture and boom… your outfit found some flare!
Here’s the same denim shirt, this time with a tweed suit. The two are a nice balance of one another on their own… but, the subtle rein-deer bow tie / pocket square says “I’m snazzy and festive, yet… not over the top.”
OFF THE CLOCK, OFF WITH THE TIE!
If you’re in the finance or legal world… breath a little! Swap out the oxford style shirt for something that sings Christmas carols or Pumpkin spice lattes (warning: this is metaphorical).
Yes, you can rock a tee shirt under the jacket. However… a couple of thoughts:
1- This isn’t the time to promote your favorite college football program.
2- Add a little something like a pocket square or lapel pin to elevate class & festivity.
Cheers, gents!
PS: Go easy at the open bar. A sloppy well-dressed man… is still sloppy.
