PICK YOUR POCKET: 3 SIMPLE WAYS TO FOLD A POCKET SQUARE

The handkerchief can actually be traced back as far as the ancient Greeks, English and French noblemen, often credited to King Richard II of England. In preserved documents, he was known to carry a square piece of cloth to wipe his nose. By the 20th century, the pocket square became widely used as a male fashion accessory with jackets, suits and vests.

Over history the art of folding and pocketing a square has evolved in so many unique ways, however, here are three classic ways we particularly appreciate:

The Presidential Fold – A simple fold that can be formal or casual. You may have commonly seen this style worn by Don Draper in the Netflix original Mad Men.

The One-Point Fold – A simple fold that can be business or casual. This is one of our favorites because you can show off a little more color or style in the square. It can make your outfit really stand out!

The Puff Fold – A simple fold that can business or casual and looks great with cotton, linen or silk squares.

Again, folding pocket squares is an art that has evolved for over a century. There are many ways to style and achieve the look successfully. Here’s some inspiration! Which looks best on you?
