DECO HOUSE, MIAMI FLORIDA
Bienvenido a Miami! The building you’re staying in was built in 1941. The United States and most of Earth were thrust into World War II that year, but these days mid-Miami Beach is absolutely tranquil. Here are a few walkable suggestions:
LIBATIONS
The Faena : Daytime cocktails? Find us at their outdoor bar. Like the vibe? Move into the living room as things liven up at night. For those whom appreciate the art of mixology, slip into the swanky Saxton Bar between 10P and 2A Thursday through Saturday. If you love elegance and art, you’ll love this hotel originally built in 1948. It’s one block to the left of the front door on the beach side.
The Edition Miami : You can day-drink indoors under the protection of A/C… you can also bowl or ice skate downstairs. Truth. You can also enjoy the Matador bar and restaurant from 5P - 11P bringing modern tastes and flavors to 1940’s Miami.
Sweet Liberty: The most unique, yet incredible Espresso Martini is here! That said, this place has MANY unique cocktails along with just about any classic cocktail you can call out. They also have really unique dishes, killer throwback American music and just a damn good vibe. So much so, we bought one of their jackets!
Triton Liquors : If you prefer your drinks at home, fear not… there is a liquor store 2 blocks from the front door to the right (just across the street from the Edition Miami). They close everyday at 11P with the exception of Sunday (8P).
COFFEE
Tropical Beach Cafe : If you want a REAL taste of Miami we implore you to walk a half a block beyond the Starbucks to this small Cuban cafe for a true cafe con leche. While you’re there, order a few croquettas to go (we highly recommend the chipotle salsa on the side for dipping). It’s across the street a little more than 2 blocks to the right (just past the Edition Hotel).
DINING
Cecconi’s : This gem of an Italian restaurant is located in the SoHo Beach House (1941). Although, just next door to the Fountaine Bleu it’s a far more intimate Venetian style and its open for every meal 7 days a week.
Gitano : Just out the door and 3 blocks north to the left for some modern Mexican flair. Was really impressed with the tapas styled dishes especially; Chorizo Con Queso, Guacamole and Wagyu Albondigas. For a small space, they have a GREAT bar and we highly recommend walking upstairs for a sunset rooftop cocktail. We were able to get in on the early side without a reservation, but you might try making one!
GROCERIES
Triton Supermarket: In need of just a few things like snacks, drinks, sunscreen… this market is out the front door to the right about 2 blocks on Collins Ave just beyond The Tropical Beach Cafe. Its also open until midnight which can be a life saver!
Publix: Even this store has history dating back to 1962 and it maintains much of its original Deco looks. Although, only about 5-10 minutes from your stay, you’ll need a car or Uber to take you south to 23rd street then a left on Dade Blvd. We recommend this for a full stock up.
