The word ‘staycation’ is a portmanteau where one can take themselves (and family) for a short stay within driving distance free from tension and anxiety. For those living in Central Florida, the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek achieves just that!

We began our relaxation with a selection of cheese, crackers and a bottle of red wine with a balcony view of several of their pools and Disney properties a short distance away. With responsibility in the rearview mirror, we walked to the pool-deck bar for a collection of local Central Florida craft beers ranging from Tampa to Melbourne.

For golf lovers, this area has a plethora of courses minutes from the property. We began our Saturday with 9 holes at Celebration Golf Club, a unique course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. & Jr. We toured around with General Manager John Bixler who chronicled the fact the Jones’ had not been on speaking terms until Disney approached them for the project. Just a few years after its completion, Robert Trent Jones Jr. lost his father, making the design of this course a significant connection in his life. The course is lush & beautiful! (Tip: Passionate golfers must pay a visit to the Florida Golf Academy right on campus where one can get fitted for clubs custom to their game and instruction with the best technical data we’ve seen in sports)

After a morning of golf, we returned to Blu Harmony Spa right on the Wyndham campus for a couples aqua immersion therapy (side by side bubble baths, with champagne & strawberries, of course) and Swedish massage. Would you be surprised if we told you this was a highlight of our stay? With our robe and glass in hand it was difficult to imagine Monday’s even exist. We barely scratched the surface of the 5,700 square ft. facility… face it gents, we need to return to even keel to be our best. Invest in yourself… and her!

A staycation wouldn’t be complete without cocktails and a lovely dinner. Deep Blu Seafood Grille & Bar 1521 were our choice where we ranked the crab cakes in the top 5 we’ve ever had. (Tip: Order up a bacon dipped bourbon cocktail, we’ll leave it at that).

Gents, as part of being our best selves we must be radiant with pleasant communication in our environment, its obvious to us the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek feels the same way as we didn’t encounter a single staff member who wasn’t as good-natured as one can be.
