INN & OUT: BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
One of America’s earliest cities, there are so many traditions, historic sites and a great social scene.
Here are some of our recommendations:
HOTELS:
Boston Park Plaza: Built in 1927, this piece of Boston history has been in business ever since hosting dignitaries like Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Judy Garland. What makes this hotel particularly great is its location in Back Bay making it walking distance to Trinity Church and the Freedom Trail.
The Envoy Hotel: For our Marriott Bonvoy friends, this Autograph Collection is all you. You can use or earn points here, but also enjoy the great location in the ‘Innovation District’ right on the harbor with an amazing ‘Lookout Rooftop Bar’ with water & downtown views. Enjoy!
RESTAURANTS:
Yvonne’s: Couldn’t tell you what kind of restaurant this is as I had Korean, Turkish and Filipino… I know, wild AF, but delicious! Wait until you see the antique, yet artistic decor in this unique supper club perfect for celebrations, business dinners or just a date between two. Even the service will be unique in how they present certain dishes and beverages. The vibe is ‘night-clubish,’ so if thats not your thing look elsewhere. The location is perfect if you’re staying downtown.
Warren Tavern: Erected in 1780, this Charlestown pub is the oldest working tavern in Massachusetts. Just the fact alone that George Washington himself visited the tavern and Paul Revere claimed it as his ‘favorite watering hole’ makes it worth the stop. Its owner, Dr. Joseph Warren, was killed just a few blocks from the establishment at the Battle of Bunker Hill in the American Revolutionary War. Have a pint and sandwich before making your way up to the historic site.
Arya Trattoria: Located in Boston’s North End, this little Italian gem has some mighty good traditional plates made family style. Don’t be shocked if you run into some of Boston’s professional athletes or celebrities. Salute!
ACTIVITIES:
Ye Olde Tavern Tours: Walk the Freedom Trail while stopping off at some of Boston’s historic taverns for a drink your guide. Ours was a graduate student in history from Boston University who showed us which pub Kennedy frequented while in congress and Mitt Romney’s favorite burger spot. Just a few small & fun details while standing in the location of the Boston Massacre or passing Samuel Adams’ grave. No biggie, right?
Tip: Get a reservation for a private tour if you have a big group. Was so fun!
Fenway Park: Though, I’m not a Red Sox fan (in fact I’m a NY Mets fan, remember ‘86?) I am a big fan of history and this park is just a fun time baseball fan or not. They’ve been playing games here since 1912! It’s a great activity for dates, bachelor / bachelorette parties or taking the family!
Cheers, gents!
